In the modern steel processing sector, the “Need for Speed” is not just a catchphrase—it is a survival requirement. However, achieving a stable, continuous production speed of 50m/min on a Metal C U Omega Profile Channel Rollforming Line is a feat of high-level mechanical and electrical engineering. Most standard machines operate at 15–25m/min; doubling this output requires a complete redesign of the traditional roll forming workflow.
The Foundation: Heavy-Duty Decoiling and Leveling
High-speed production begins with material control. A 10T heavy-duty decoiler is essential to handle the massive coils required for long, uninterrupted runs. At 50m/min, the inertia of a 10-ton coil is immense. Our system utilizes a variable-frequency drive (VFD) and a pneumatic brake system to ensure the coil accelerates and decelerates in perfect harmony with the OMEGA, C, U Beam roll forming machine, preventing material slack or sudden tension snaps. Before entering the forming stations, a multi-roll leveling unit ensures the strip is perfectly flat, which is critical when dealing with metal thickness up to 5mm.
High-Speed Punching and Forming Precision
The “On-line” punching system is often the bottleneck in slower machines. To maintain 50m/min, we utilize high-response hydraulic stations or mechanical press units that can execute complex hole patterns in milliseconds. Whether the design requires pre-punching (before forming) or post-punching (after forming), the PLC ensures the hole spacing remains accurate within $\pm$0.5mm, even at maximum velocity.
The OMEGA, C, U purlin roll forming machine itself features reinforced “Torii” stands. The rollers are crafted from high-grade GCr15 bearing steel, vacuum-quenched to a hardness of HRC58-62. This prevents wear and tear when processing thick 5mm profiles and ensures the “C” or “U” shape remains perfectly true without “flare” at the ends of the purlin.
The Flying Cut and Automated Exit
You cannot stop a 50m/min line to cut the steel. Our production lines utilize a “Flying Hydraulic Cut-off” system. The cutting head moves alongside the profile at the exact same speed, shears the metal, and returns to its starting position without the material ever slowing down. Finally, the auto stacker system receives the finished profiles. Without an automated stacker, the sheer volume of 50m/min production would require four to five manual laborers just to move the steel. The stacker neatly organizes the purlins into bundles, ready for the forklift.
