The Challenge of High-Speed Perforation

When a Pallet Rack Beam Roll Forming Line is moving at 15 to 30 meters per minute, the window for punching a hole is incredibly small. Advanced lines solve this through “flying” or “tracking” punching systems. The punching die actually moves along with the strip at the exact same speed, strikes the metal, and then returns to its home position. This allows for continuous production without ever stopping the material flow.

Accuracy and Assembly

If the hole placement on an upright is off by even 1mm over a 6-meter span, the horizontal beams will not click into place, or the rack will be crooked. By integrating the punching unit directly after the uncoiler (and before the forming rollers), the machine ensures that the holes are placed while the material is flat. This results in far higher accuracy than trying to punch a finished, three-dimensional profile.

Because the unit is CNC-controlled, manufacturers can quickly switch between different technical drawings.
