What Are Container Side Wall Panels?
Container side panels are the main structural metal sheets that form the walls of intermodal shipping containers. They are typically made from high-strength weathering steel (such as Corten-A or SPA-H), with a thickness ranging from 1.6mm to 2.0mm.
The panels feature a distinctive wave-like corrugated profile. This corrugation is not decorative — it significantly increases the panel’s structural strength, allowing the container to withstand heavy stacking loads, transportation stresses, vibration, and rough handling while keeping the overall weight relatively low.
Function of the Production Line
The Container Corrugated Panel Production Line takes flat steel coils and continuously transforms them into finished corrugated side wall panels through a high-precision, automated cold roll forming process. It is widely used by shipping container manufacturers for mass production of standardized components, as well as for specialized containers, container houses, modular buildings, and other corrugated structures.

Typical Production Process
A complete container side wall panel roll forming production line usually consists of the following key stations:
- Hydraulic Decoiler
Holds and automatically unwinds heavy steel coils (commonly 5–10 tons). - Feeding & Guiding System
Ensures the steel strip enters the machine straight and properly aligned. - Main Roll Forming Machine
The core of the line, typically equipped with 15–30 progressive roller stations. The flat steel strip is gradually bent into the required corrugated profile as it passes through each station. Rollers are made of high-hardness materials (such as Cr12 or GCR15) with heat treatment for durability and precision. - Hydraulic or Servo Cutting System
Automatically cuts the formed panels to precise lengths (e.g., 2400mm–2700mm or custom sizes) using a stop-cut or flying-cut method. - Run-out Table / Stacker
Receives, inspects, and stacks the finished panels for easy handling.
The entire line is controlled by a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) system, allowing operators to set parameters, monitor production, and achieve high automation with minimal labor.
